2 Months Old

Sounds: Still loves to grunt and cry and makes noise like "Hi" and "aw" a lot

Hates: Trying to put him to sleep, scratching his face with his hands (he has to wear mittens)

Loves: Music, kicking, hanging out on his bouncer, and being talked and sung to

Facial Expressions: He's smiling a ton! He still also loves to have a serious face while he's looking at everything

 His first nap in the crib. He is way to small for it! Back to the bassinet and swing.

 It was his first time not crying while doing tummy time! So exciting and I 

don't feel like a horrible person every time I try now

His first time at church. He lasted a good 5 seconds before he started crying, but it felt good to finally go. 

 This is dads way of trying to get Zach to sleep: Sitting on the couch and watching T.V.

1 Month Old

I can't believe Zach is already one month old. It has gone by so fast and it's crazy how much he has grown in a month.

at 1 month:

Weight: 10 lbs. 8 oz.

Sounds: Grunts A LOT! Very strong lungs and uses them a lot to cry and giggles while he's asleep

Hates: dirty diapers, tummy time on the ground, being cold, diaper changes

Loves: Food, being sung to, sitting and moving around on the diaper changer, kicking, 

hanging out on the play yard, holding onto things (fingers, blankets, shirts) and taking baths

Facial Expressions: Usually has a very serious face, loves to looks around and soak everything in, he smiles a lot especially after he eats (I say he's in milk coma), when he's sleeping (he must be having happy dreams), sometimes when I sing to him and when daddy plays with him.

My poor little night light had Jaundice 2 days after he was born and needed to wear this light blanket. He was not a happy camper about it so it was good it was only for 3 days. 

He likes making this face a lot when he's upset 

His first bath. He doesn't look very happy but he actually did like it haha.

Mom and Dad Visit

My mom and dad came to visit for a couple of weeks when Zach was born and I could not have done it without them. It's amazing that no matter how many books I read, I still didn't have a clue about what I should do with some things. My mom helped me learn how to properly give Zach a bath (he cried when Dan and I tried but now loves it from my moms tips), different ways to help calm Zach down, how to get poop stains out of his clothes and a ton more!

While they were here we were able to go and do a couple of fun things as well. We went and did all the touristy things while they were here as well: Love Park. Reading Terminal Market, Rocky Steps and statue, liberty bell, and Pats Cheese steaks.

Baby Blessing

Zach's baby blessing was on March 16, 2014. It was such a great blessing to have most of Dan's brothers and my dad here to bless him. He was so good and slept through the whole thing! It was a great blessing and I am so excited to be a part of this amazing little boy's life. :)

Baby Zachary Daniel Itri

Name: Zachary Daniel Itri

Birthday: February 18, 2014

Time: 11:11 P.M.

Weigh: 8 lbs. 6 oz.

Height: 20.75 cm

I still can't believe that Dan and I have a baby. It's been almost a week so I decided to write down my labor story before I forget. I'll keep it PG, but if you don't like hearing about labor stories you probably just want to scroll down to the pictures :). 

So after my due date came and went I started thinking that he might never come out and I will forever be a beached whale with heartburn for the rest of my life. Well luckily at 4:30 A.M. on February 18, I woke up realizing either a) my water broke or b) I wet myself. I started getting very little contractions every 3-5 minutes so I called the doctor and was told to go to the hospital. The whole time I was terrified I would be that type of pregnant lady who just peed myself and would have to go back home in shame. When they checked they said I wasn't dilated at all and it didn't look like my water broke, but they would run one more test before they let us go home. After 30 horribly long minutes, they came back and said my water did break and we would be staying for good. Since I wasn't dilated, they started me on a pill (I can't remember the name) to help slowly put me in labor. After 4 hours, I was dilated to 2. They didn't give me anymore in hopes that I would naturally continue into labor. 4 hours labor and pretty obnoxious contractions every 2-3 minutes I was still at a 2. Then they started me on Pitocin. 4 hours into it, I was in extremely horrible pain with the contractions coming every 2-3 minutes and throwing up. I was dilated at a 4 and got the epidural. As soon as it kicked in I felt amazing! For anyone questioning whether or not to get one, you definitely should! I couldn't feel any of the contractions and after 2 hours I was fully dilated and ready to push. After almost 2 hours of pushing, Zach finally was born! He came out looking blue and had a bit of a cone head, but was perfect in my eyes. Overall it was a very good delivery and both us are nice and healthy. 

I would say the aftermath of it all is probably more painful then the actual delivery. From the stitches, to nursing, to your first poop it's not the most glamorous or exciting time, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
